PA Myth & Music 2010

Fellowship Health Resources Pennsylvania (FHR PA) will host Myth & Music, a musical program, in partnership with the Community Music School, at 7 PM on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Franklin Commons in Phoenixville. Our goal is to dispel the many myths and misconceptions surrounding mental illness through entertainment, education, and example.
Professional musicians will perform a variety of musical compositions created by musicians/composers who lived with mental health issues. Music will be introduced with a short biography about the musician/composer’s journey with mental illness.
Guests will enjoy a wide array of compositions selected from a variety of musical genres. Some musicians/composers/artists that lived with mental illness include: Ludwig van Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Judy Garland, Gustav Mahler, Rosemary Clooney, Robert Schumann, Leonard Bernstein, and George Gershwin. Guests may be surprised to learn that these musicians lived the better part of their lives with mental illness. Attendees can also expect to hear personal stories about individuals and their journey to recovery.

The mission of Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. is to assist individuals, especially those with mental illness and co-occurring disorders, to improve their mental health, well being and quality of life. We believe quality service is based in a culture of hope, respect, ethical behavior, and genuine caring for our clients and our employees. We invest in the individual and never lose hope in the potential for personal growth and recovery of each person we serve.
Sponsorships are available and include recognition in the program book and on the Fellowship Health Resources website. A unique feature of these sponsorships is that each sponsor has the option to receive Mental Health Awareness Education. This program will give the sponsor the opportunity to improve their understanding of people with mental health issues. Mental Health Awareness Education will include presentations by a peer specialist and a mental health professional. A press release will be provided and each business/sponsor will receive a framed certificate for their participation in Mental Health Awareness Education.
In addition to sponsorships, ads and individual reservations will be available.
